Selection criterion of this guide

This Guide is put together and updated in a joint effort undertaken by a large team mainly made up of journalists. The tools used are those of the trade: research and consultations with the best experts. We also take into account published ratings and rankings on some –albeit few- of the subjects we address, given that there is no other guide in the world that endeavours to cover the entire wide range of products and services that we do in this Guide to The Best in the World. When we use, either partially or fully, an outside ranking, we always cite the source, in accordance with the principles and rules of quality journalism. In some cases, we also cite the experts consulted, when duly authorised by them.

The result we want to achieve, whenever possible, is to get as close as possible to expert consensus. For example, among the best wines in the world, some are almost permanent in the rankings of the most famous "gurus". No doubt those labels will always be among the ones highlighted in this Guide, although their place in the "Top Ten" may be open to a variety of opinions.

The order of priority in a "Top Ten", i.e., the number held in the top ten, is, in good logic, a flexible concept, a relative subtlety, subject to small variations, interpretations and tastes which vary in different times and places. It is evident that this Guide is put together in a specific geographical epicentre, Spain, even if experts and rankings from very diverse spheres are consulted. We are aware that the culture and environment of the editors of this project determine a certain point of view which can only relatively aspire to globalism in the strict meaning of the world. But precisely the environment that we work in, Internet, the first global communication channel, will enable us to gradually adapt and sharpen our aim in the future.

Because visitors to this site are expressly invited to send us their comments, criticisms and suggestions. In this manner, by applying logical selection and identification criteria, we will progressively build a much more global and independent Guide. That is our goal.

We are therefore looking at a collective project, in pursuit of QUALITY, the most exquisite, the most refined, the most exclusive, not only from a financial point of view, where good taste takes precedence, which includes a generous dose of ETHICS, an increasingly necessary principle in the business transactions of the 21st century.

We wanted to underline the point: the best is not always the most expensive, precisely to highlight our intention to gradually include selections of offers available across the world which do not have a specific cost or price, such as the best beaches in the world, the best natural landscapes, the places where the best sunsets can be seen, etc. The choices are infinite. In this collective project, our aim is to do our part for a more self-aware planet of its wonderful global possibilities.

We endeavour to base our judgements on the sources that we cite. Any errors or debatable subjectivities in these selections are only ours. We assume full responsibility.
