The most expensive TVs in the world
Sets studded with gold and diamonds, the choice of a public that is able to pay millions to integrate its TV into a world of extreme luxury.
It seems clear that TVs are now something more than a simple home appliance. They have become another member of the family and the centre of the living room. While some years ago furniture was designed to store TVs and hide them when not being used, now it can be said that thanks to their innovative designs they have become one of the most important decorative elements in the home.
So it is no surprise that their external design has in some cases become their main attraction and an added value that increases the number of zeros in their sale price. This is the working philosophy of Stuart Hughes, a specialist in luxury items for millionaires across the globe. This designer has created what is probably the most expensive TV in the world, costing close to 1.6 million euros.
It is the Prestige HD Supreme Rose Edition range: TVs that are made of nearly 28 kilos of 18-carat rose gold and 72 diamonds framing the 55-inch screen. The rest of the set is made up of precious stones and amethyst, while the inside includes hand-sewn crocodile skin. Of course, this is a limited edition and there are only three TVs of this kind in the world.
For those who cannot spend so much, the same brand has a lower-priced range called Prestige HD Supreme Edition, costing only 1.1 million euros. The quality of materials used has been slightly lowered: the TV frame is 22 carat gold and has 48 diamonds.
Stewart Hughes has also designed other luxury appliances such as iPads, mobiles, laptops, watches and even Nintendo Wii and Sony PS3 consoles. All of them have diamond and gold exteriors, ready for the most luxurious gala event of all time -and for the most capacious wallets.
