Exclusive handbags in the world
Decorated with precious pieces and in limited editions, they are something more than cult handbags for the privileged.
1001 Nights Diamond Purse. This is the suggestive name given to the most luxurious handbag known to date. Inspired in the epic tales from the Orient, in only a few months it has become a legend. With more than 4,500 incrustations of differently-coloured diamonds on a 17-carat gold structure made by ten artisan goldsmiths, it is valued at 3.8 million dollars. Its heart-shaped design, unique in the world, has been created by the prestigious Dubai jeweller Mouawad –also known for having created the most expensive brassiere on the planet for the lingerie firm Victoria’s Secret. The piece has been entered in the Guinness Book of Records as the most valuable handbag in the world.
This creation by the house of Mouawad is not the only ‘jewelled bag’ we have found. Some of the most emblematic fashion firms have in recent years presented some true works of art, unique complements where exclusivity is taken one step further. Limited-edition pieces decorated with precious stones and with exorbitant prices, they are designed to be admired and enjoyed by the fortunate few. Among them we find the Diamond Forever Classic Bag by Channel. This elegant piece, of which only 13 have been made, is in white crocodile leather in a matte finish and decorated with 334 diamonds on an 18-carat white gold brooch. Its value: around 185,000 euros.
Also in crocodile leather is the Hermès Matte Crocodile Birkin Bag. The traditional design of the most coveted bag of the moment (more than two months' wait to obtain it) adds to its exquisite leather and fittings in precious metals a painstaking decoration in diamonds.
Glamour for magical evenings
Among the more feminine ones we find the Lana Marks Cleopatra Bag. A party clutch in silver crocodile leather finished off with a precise clasp in black and white diamonds. Also created for a gala evening is Judith Leiber's design, the Precious Rose: a glamorous clutch of which there is only one piece available in the world, sketching a perfect rose with 1,169 sapphires, 1,016 diamonds and 800 tourmalines.
More informal is the Leiber Dandelion Suede Gator Handbag. Eye-catching, in yellow leather and a gold clasp. With a brooch created from 39 strategically placed diamonds, the Gadino Bag by Hilde Palladito joins this list of exclusive complements.
While not including jewels, Louis Vuitton has also created an exclusive model, the LV Tribute Patchwork Bag. The collection only has 24 pieces, made from fragments of 15 distinctive handbags by the famed French complements firm. The Italian luxury house Fendi, in turn, has its Selleria Bag, whose distinctive stamp is provided by the value of the materials from which it has been made: chinchilla and sable furs.
