Almost perfect creams: The best moisturisers

Consumers and experts agree that these are the most efficient skin creams in the world, They are the 10 that better moistures and protect your skin

What works when trying to maintain the freshness and healthiness of a woman’s facial skin? The sales figures and users opinions are important, but there are also highly-authorised parties - dermatological institutions, experts and independent consumer organisations- that study the products, analyse them and test their efficiency.

Most rankings, among them renown German Stiftung Wahrentest, agree in including among the best creams Crème de La Mer (125 euros), created by a scientist who suffered severe facial burns and decided to develop, for himself, a facial cream that could accelerate the cell regeneration process.

This sublime product appears on the top of the German ranking together with an old-friend of our grandmothers: The blue-tin Nivea, whose price is less than 3 euros and that the dermatologists keep recommending as ideal to moisturise and protect the whole body and even to prevent stretch marks during pregnancy.

Affordable or not so much

In France, world leader in the manufacture of beauty treatments, the Cosmetics Palmares analyses every year over 3,000 treatments and make-up products and publishes its results For them, the best moisturiser of 2009 was the humble and environmentally-friendly Themis, manufactured in Africa and sold for 20 euros.

US consumers (Consumers Report) received enthusiastically the last miracle of Japanese Shiseido, Future Solution Day (170 euros), placing it next to a veteran whose high concentration of antioxidants is still unbeatable, Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing (28 euros) and the latest great success by Lancôme, Absolue Premium (168 euros) with great reviews.

Two of the most prize-winning creams in the history of cosmetics, and also very affordable (between 20 and 25 euros) are Eight Hour Cream and Olay Total Effects. The first was an ointment created in 1930 by Elizabeth Arden for…yes, her racing horses, which has given excellent dermatological results to several generations, the latter has received many awards by feminine magazines.

Less famous, but shared like a friend's secret, are Aroma Vaillance by Nuxe (40 euros) and Gatineau Melatogenine (165 euros), which receive hundreds of good reviews in feminine magazine’s online forums among internet users and in the webs of the US Macy’s department store.

This raking of Basic multifunction moisturisers is based on experts' assessment, tests by independent organisations, studies of consumer groups and, above all, user opinions that state that those treatments work.
