Diving 30 metres down and finding a wonderful shipwreck. The rusty hull of the S.S. Yongala – which lies on a sandy plain in front of Queensland’s coast, close to the Great Barrier Reef- is according to most experts, one of the best places where to dive, because of the quantity and variety of marine life it hosts. Corals of all species, turtles, sharks, manta rays, groupers and angel fishes swim past still intact lamps, plates and bottles.
It is the most famous place of Micronesia to see sharks, but there are also plenty coral gardens, incredible caves with stalactites and stalagmites, shipwrecks of the Second World War and a beautiful lake with millions of jellyfish. Important: they do not sting.
Jacques Cousteau was the first to classify Sipadan among the most beautiful places where to dive. An immersion not to miss is in the north of the island: at Barracuda Point you can see schools of up to 300 barracudas together.
