Fernando Alonso, Cristiano Ronaldo, Rafa Nadal, Pau Gasol... Their bodies are almost perfect machines of high sport performance, but who are their personal “mechanics”? These are their main physiotherapists and this is how they work.... Read more [+]
Fernando Alonso has a confidence on him that has gone beyond changes in his racing teams. Italian Fabrizio Borra is his physiotherapist since 2004 and the F1 champion follows all his orders. Borra looks after Alonso’s nutrition and physical training, preparing in advance an aerobic program of dynamic stabilisation. He even makes the champion weigh himself morning and evening in order to control his diet.
Although Rafael Nadal is recovering well, Rafael Maymó does not neglect him for one minute. After tough matches, as well as going through Maymó’s hands, he prepares him freezing cold water baths to regenerate him.
He became part of Pau Gasol’s team in 2004 when they called him to stop a plantar fasciitis. Joaquín Juan watches over the body of the Catalan day and night. In his surgery, he also treats Garbajosa and Marc Gasol.
